Sclerotherapy for leg veins

Sclerotherapy is a treatment for varicose veins that may be too large to target with a laser. The doctor will inject a sclerosing agent slowly and gently into the unwanted vein. You may feel small needle sticks or a mild burning sensation as the procedure takes place. However, the needle used for injection is so thin and the sclerosing agent is so mild that pain is usually minimal. The chemical injected allows the inside lining of the vein to close down.

We also offer the most advanced and effective Nd:Yag laser treatments for varicose and spider veins. Laser treatment works by cauterizing the vein under the surface of the skin, which triggers the blood to dry and the vein to shut down. Veins may turn dark purple following treatment but they soon will fade dramatically in appearance. Full results may take up to eight weeks to take effect.

We encourge you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you might have about a particular condition and the proper treatments. Come in or give us a call to set up a consultation to discuss the treatment process.

Optimize your results

To optimize results, strenuous exercise should be limited for two weeks after treatment. Veins may appear darker, or even bruised, at first, but this should dissipate within one month. Full results may take eight weeks to take full effect. In many cases, there may be some residual brownish pigmentation which may take up to a year to completely fade. Several treatments may be needed for optimal results.
